As much as I hate to admit it, I work best with a routine. I don’t mean an hour-by-hour type thing, but a loosely mapped out agenda keeps me focused.
I have pushed back so much with the idea of this. I’m a writer! I’m an entrepreneur! I have a gypsy soul! Well folks, this gypsy soul needs a little direction. I’ve noticed this even more so during quarant*ne.
I’ve worked from home since before WFH was trending, but the past few months have proved to be even more difficult. I literally can’t go anywhere other than my home to work – no coffee shops, libraries, nothing.
Enter, my morning routine. It’s not much of a routine, as I am still fighting the thought, but it’s a start.
Each morning, after I wake up, I make my bed – this is a huge help! Starting your day with a freshly made bed really does good for the soul. After that, I wash my face with ClearStem, a stem cell infused face wash, and spritz on rosewater toner after I’ve air-dried. (I love Cocokind rosewater.) The final face routine step is applying a moisturizer with SPF – I like what I have, but I’m open to trying something new.
I’ve been trying to use cleaner ingredient products, and that includes my deodorant – lately my fave has been Corpus. It keeps me feeling + smelling fresh without me wondering if I should reapply. Lastly, I spray the top of my head + base of my neck with Calm by Kaliana. This mist has tons of botanical goodies that instantly take my stress away!
At night, I use the same products for my facial routine, but instead of SPF, I use Beautycounter’s Counter+ resurfacing peel. I’m 27 and I still deal with acne, and this product has really helped tone down new acne, and make my scars look less noticeable. It’s a little pricey, but worth it in my opinion.
Creating time in my day for these quick 5 minute “staples” has really helped me start my morning off on a good foot, and end my night feel cozy + ready for bed. The Kaliana mist also works well if sprayed on your pillow extra assurance that sleep will come quickly!
What types of routines have you created lately?
