I recently stayed for a long weekend at Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, MI and absolutely had to tell you about it!
One of my best friends had her wedding in Michigan and Boyne Mountain Resort was shared as a lodging preference, and after looking through the website, I knew I had to make it my home for the weekend.
All of the leaves in upper Michigan had already started to change, so my drive was filled with beautiful colors of fall – this made the 7 hour drive *almost* worth it. I arrived on a rainy Thursday evening, and as I approached Boyne Mountain Resort, I was in awe at how the golden and plum hued trees hugged the grounds so romantically. At check in I was offered a glass of champagne, which I always appreciate, but now that I am not drinking much, I do think it would have been nice to receive a non-alcoholic option as well. Upon checking in, I was given a map of the resort, and offered a ride and baggage assist by the valet, as my room was in a different location outside of the main part of the resort.
I stayed at Chalet Edelweiss, the European inspired mountain guest house.
My room at Boyne Mountain Resort absolutely shocked me! Not only was it cozy and decorated with casual elegance, but the features were so smart. The room had plush robes and slippers, a rainfall shower, a Fellow kettle and pour-over station, and one of the most comfortable mattresses I’ve slept on. Plus, the Chalet was fully equipped with a sauna (you know how much I love a sauna) + ice bucket room, and a common lounge with fireplace and seating. I was dripping with joy, to say the least!
Depending on where you stay at Boyne Mountain Resort, you’ll have access to different amenities. As a guest of Chalet Edelweiss, I had a gigantic hot tub and heated pool nearby, as well as a small gym with a Peloton bike and free weights (on top of the sauna and lounge). The turndown service was so sweet – a few delicious chocolates and a small music box were placed on my bed by the time I returned from dinner at the main hotel.
Food options were surprising at Boyne Mountain Resort.
I had sushi from the main restaurant in the hotel the night I checked in, but there were also pizza, pub, and casual American options. Most of the restaurants had happy hour beverages as well, which I thought was a fun addition to the resort. With my food sensitivities (soy, pork, dairy), I did find it difficult to eat breakfast at the resort, but there were a handful of coffee shops within a 15 minute drive.
I was in town for a wedding, so most of my weekend was not spent at the resort.
Honestly, I was a little sad that I did not have the ability to spend more time at the resort! When I checked in, I was given a few different handouts for the festivities and weekend activities. Boyne Mountain was opening their SkyBridge, so that was a big draw for the weekend. There were also a few fall festivals going on in the surrounding towns – several apple themed ones, which I found adorable! I did book a manicure at the spa onsite and really enjoyed my experience, and my polish has lasted almost 3 weeks!
Overall, I loved my solo stay at Boyne Mountain Resort.
The drive was long, but the views were breathtaking! I will absolutely be sure to come back – Boyne would be a great spot not only for a solo vacation, but I’d love to bring a couple of my closest girlfriends up and have a fun weekend together. Between the beautiful lodging, the incredibly attentive staff, gorgeous grounds, and close proximity to the neighboring small towns, Boyne Mountain Resort is a perfect place for a long weekend of rest and relaxation. I was so impressed by the level of care and luxury that Boyne had, while also not feeling too over-the-top and inaccessible. Have you stayed at Boyne Mountain? If so, I’d love to hear how much you loved it – and what your favorite nighttime chocolate was!
*My meals, services, and stay were paid for in full by me – I am writing this blog post because I fully enjoyed my weekend at Boyne Mountain Resort.*
